Athens
is a beautiful city. It would take several days to see all of the sites
in and around the city, but there are some things that should not be
missed:
The Plaka is a wonderful place to buy souveniers for yourself and the family. There are an abundance of shops and restaurants all in one spot. At night the Plaka comes alive with vendors, music and activity. The changing of the guard is quite a unique spectical. It takes place every hour at the tomb of the unknown soldier (see pictures below). At noon on Sundays there is a real spectacle. It is worth the effort to try to see this. Walking around Athens you will see some wonderful buildings. Including the university of Athens and the National Library (pictured below) |
